ESU Football Player Dies After Crash

EAST STROUDSBURG -- A young man who attended East Stroudsburg University in Monroe County died Friday as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash last Saturday.

Derek Brown, 20, was involved in a one car accident in Telford, Montgomery County on June 30th.

According the university's website, Brown an Elementary Education major and an outside linebacker for East Stroudsburg University football team.  He attended Souderton High School in Montgomery County.

Brown played for ESU as a true freshman, starting four games. He played in ten games in 2011, making nine starts as safety and outside linebacker.

Browns family said eight of his organs were donated through the Gift of Life Donor Program which serves patients in eastern Pennslyvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
