HEMLOCK TOWNSHIP -- Early on Thursday, the Columbia County Coroner said Frank Spencer died from a gunshot wound to the head, and he was also shot in the arm. State police are investigating the death, which the coroner has now ruled a homicide.
State police searched the home of Frank Spencer. The well-known businessman from Columbia County was found dead on Tuesday inside his home near Millville.
State police said Spencer's missing pickup truck was found early Wednesday in Sunbury about 25 miles away from Spencer's home. Troopers said they searched the vehicle, and are looking into how it got to Sunbury.
Spencer was well-known in Columbia County. He owned Frank Spencer's Auto Parts, along Route 42 near Bloomsburg.
Spencer's friends said he was well-liked. They said the 46-year-old father of two was into racing, and his cousin was former NASCAR driver Jimmy Spencer. Friends also said Spencer was recently divorced.
State police have not said if they have any suspects or leads in the homicide in Columbia County, and investigators have not said if Frank Spencer's death was an isolated incident. State police said people should be cautious and aware of their surroundings.
