WYOMING -- What better way to spend the 4th of July holiday than at the park. And that's what plenty of people did in Luzerne County.

The grills fired up early and the aroma of marinated chicken filled the pavilion at Frances Slocum State Park outside Wilkes-Barre.

We found some people enjoying a Fourth of July tradition: a family reunion with all the trimmings.

"Oh we have a lot of food whether it be chicken steaks, hamburgers lot of good side dishes, desserts, we`ll definitely gain two to three pounds today," said Ray Stella of West Wyoming.

Park officials expect hundreds of people to take advantage of the hot dry holiday weather which means for some a dip in the pool.

"It`s beautiful the water is nice here in the pool and everybody is so friendly. I like it here," said Felicia Acosta of Wilkes-Barre.

Felicia brought her son Junior and nephew Christian to the park before a night at the fireworks.

"Well actually being lazy today that`s why I came here so I can just cook out and come back in the pool and let them enjoy their day," added Acosta.

Down at the lake, several kids showed off their catch of the day for our cameras.

Just up the shore, Joe Pierantoni hasn't caught anything yet, but he said he doesn't care.

"Beautiful day, celebrating the Fourth and doing a little fishing. Does it get any better than this? Not at all, not at all. God love America," said Pierantoni.
