WEISSPORT — A grandmother and her grandson are dead after an incident in the Lehigh River on Friday.
Police said Wanda Wentz, 49, of Lehighton saw her seven-year-old grandson in distress in the river, and tried to help him.
She slipped on rocks and drowned.
The boy was taken to the hospital where he died early Saturday morning.
