COOLBAUGH TWP. -- A young boy from the Poconos is recovering after police said he was accidentally hit by a car that was driven by his father.

Shortly before 6:30 Wednesday night, police were called to the intersection of Rob Roy Drive and Dorchester Road in the Pocono Farms East housing development near Mount Pocono.

The reason is because a child got hit by an SUV.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police showed Newswatch 16 where the accident occurred and said a father was driving down the street looking for his son.

Meanwhile, a neighbor said the man's son was playing with her son. According to that neighbor, the child borrowed her son's bicycle.

Then before 6:30 p.m., the father got in his SUV to look for his son.

While driving down the street, police said the man accidentally hit a nine-year-old child on a bike.

That nine year old was his son.

Immediately after that happened, the son's friend ran to his home nearby and told his mom what happened.

The mother told Newswatch 16 when she rushed out to help, she saw the father was distraught about accidentally hitting his son.

Police said speed was not a factor.

Police also said the boy received head injuries and is going to be okay.
