PITTSTON -- The Northeast fair in Pittston Township started Tuesday afternoon.

The fair is the Pittston Township Fire Department's biggest fundraiser of the year, drawing more than 35,000 people and raising about $50,000.

Last year, though, it rained for the first days of the fair.

"The first three nights of the fair last year we didn't do good at all. Friday night you know, it picked up a little," said Allan Capozucca, President of the Pittston Township Fire Department.

This year, the weather forecast looks sunny and dry for most of the fair, hot too.

That is good news for vendors.

"I sell cold items that refresh people and should be good then," said Rick Hilliard of Baltimore who has a shaved ice stand.

Everyone looking to make money at the fair is cheering the sunny skies and the crowds.

If the rain does come, people Newswatch 16 spoke with said they are prepared.

"Looks like the forecast is going to be great this year and we hope that that holds, but obviously we are waterproof here, so I always tell people 'hey come in here in the shade, get an airbrush tattoo,'" said Paul Telelyuyev of Massachusetts.

The fair runs through Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Pittston Township.
