Neshannock vs Warrior Run Softball

Madison Shaffer opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a two run inside the park home-run for Neshannock on Friday in the AA State Championship Softball game at Beard Field on the campus of Penn State University.

In the top of the second Warrior Run tied the game by scoring on a balk call and a fielder's choice play. It was 2-2.

The Lady Defenders took the lead in the third inning. Taylor Parker doubled, then Jackie Clemons drove her in with another double. It was 3-2 Warrior Run with the lead.

The Lancers tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom the third inning on Marissa Dematteo's bunt base-hit thru the shifting Lady Defenders defense.

In the bottom of the fourth Parker with some solid defense. Her quick reflexes helped her stop several sharp line drive would be hits for Neshannock.

It wasn't until the bottom of the 8th when this one would be decided. Madison Altmyer lead off the inning with a triple down the right field line. The Lady Lancers we're in business with a chance to grab the AA State Championship.

On a Taylor Parker wild pitch Altmyer broke for home and beat the throw back to the plate. Neshannock with the 4-3 win over Warrior Run.

Warrior Run finishes the season with a record of 24-3 and take home the state runner-up trophy.
