Man in Wheelchair Hit by Car

A man in a wheelchair was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in Luzerne County. early Friday morning.

Police said four people were crossing the intersection of South River Street and West Northampton, Wilkes-Barre around 2 a.m.

A car went through the intersection hitting Corey Ryan, one of the four. Ryan, who was using the wheelchair, was thrown down the road as the car drove away.

Ryan was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital with critical injuries, according to police.

Police said the city's surveillance cameras did capture the car hitting Ryan.

The car was captured on camera by the city's security system, heading west bound on the Market Street Bridge.

Patrick Meininger rides his bike all over the city, and said whoever hit Ryan should admit it to police.

"You have to turn yourself in because that`s going to get you in more trouble than you already are. You don`t want to take off. You sit there and call for an ambulance or something," said Meininger.

The car police are looking for is believed to be a white or silver 90's Honda or Subaru with front end damage. If you recognize it you should contact Wilkes-Barre police.
