The Marshalls Creek Bypass is filled with something you don't see much of in the Poconos: happy drivers.

Many who are glad to not be sitting in long lines of traffic on Route 209 in Marshalls Creek.

"I like it. It's great, no traffic, easy to get on and off," said Jason Raesly of Shawnee.

"It will improve something around Marshalls Creek, and people in Marshalls Creek would like a little breather because it's a nightmare," said Sandra Freeman of Marshalls Creek.

The Marshalls Creek Bypass has been nearly 30 years in the making.

The purpose of the bypass is to alleviate traffic congestion in Marshalls Creek, traffic congestion many who live nearby won't soon forget.

"Sitting in traffic for hours just to get home," said Raesly.

The bypass is designed to go around that busy area of Marshalls Creek cutting through this part of the Pocono mountains.

Drivers said the biggest complaint they have about the bypass is they just really don't know where they're going.  Specifically how they have to maneuver around the roundabout, so to alleviate all the confusion, a state trooper was on standby.

A state trooper was on scene for part of the day, helping people find their way around. But even with the trooper there, some people were still confused where to go.

""I get to the stop light and I'm like, which was do I go? Left or right? I had to remember whether I was going north or south 209. I didn't see the sign, it didn't say Milford, East Strousburg, or Marshalls creek, so I wasn't sure which way to go," said Linda Dillon of East Stroudsburg.

"I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with the circle, I'm not fond of them," said Freeman.

The bypass isn't 100-percent complete yet.

Today, crews were working on part of that roundabout, otherwise known as "the circle".

PennDOT officials say the bypass will be totally finished next year.
