Racing officals are preparing for a Belmont Stakes race party at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Crowds are expected to bet on that race and watch harness racing there Saturday.

Excitement about a possible Triple Crown Winner, I'll Have Another, died Friday with news that the horse is injured and will not run the race, but local racing officials said the party will go on.

"We had a promotion that if that horse won, we'd give you another drink, playing off his name, but we decided to reward the fans, that all fans no matter who wins the race will get another drink as long as they swipe their Racing Rewards card, so actually the fans have benefited," said Dale Rapson, the Vice President of Racing.

Racing professionals at the track said not having a possible Triple Crown winner will hurt business.

"I think it's going to hurt the industry really bad, they're going to lose millions of dollars because of it. If I was the trainer I would have scratched him the day of the race, I hate to say that, but they're going to lose millions of dollars and the fans won't come out," said trainer Andrew Filion.

"I have seen a Triple Crown, but a lot of people haven't so this would have been really nice for the people to see," agreed trainer and driver Matt Romano.

Legendery jockey, Ron Turcotte, rode Triple Crown winner, Secretariat in 1973.

He was at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Friday and weighed in on the news about I'll Have Another.

" I think it's a shock. I really love that horse, I saw him and I liked the little horse, he was a gritty little horse," said Turcotte.

Still, if the weather is as nice as it is expected to be, folks at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs said they expect a good turnout.

They said the Belmont Stakes is an exciting race, and now without an obvious favorite, the betting will be better.

"The betting race now becomes a better race to bet, wager probably because there's no prohibitive favorite so now it's a wide open field so people who come to wager, there's a lot of choices now," said Rapson.
