Cracking down on fraud and abuse in Lackawanna County is the goal of a new telephone hotline.

County controller Gart Dibileo, along with several other officials, announced Friday plans for the Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline for Lackawanna County.

The goal is for people to call in or email their tips to authorities in the hopes of preventing corruption in the county.

Dibileo said it is all about saving taxpayer’s money.

“Now we’re giving them an easy outlet to contact us anonymously if they so choose, to provide us with the information so we can check things out for them,” Dibileo said.

He added the hotline will be fully operational by July 1 in Lackawanna County.
