Opening statements and testimony are scheduled for Monday in Centre County court for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case and people living in Clinton County are looking forward to that.
Officials with the attorney general's office said Sandusky was brought down on child sex abuse charges by a parent and school officials at Central Mountain High School near Lock Haven.
People Newswatch 16 spoke with said they are glad the trial is underway.
"I'm proud that they took some action. I'm proud that the mother took some action to pursue it," said Zelma Lang of Lock Haven.
According to state officials, after Sandusky retired from Penn State football, he volunteered as a football coach at the school and it was there that Sandusky continued his pattern of sexual abuse until the mother of one alleged victim reported it and police got involved.
"You know, 10 years is a long time to let this go, long time, should have been done 10 years ago, as soon as it first happened and I think there was a lot of folks at Penn State that was hiding stuff, you know, that he was so high up in there," Donald Kinley of Mill Hall. He added he knows the young man who officials said Sandusky abused. "He was hiding and everything from him, you know. He would get, he would run all the time and hide from him so I know that, I know him real well and that's what he did. He always would hide and he was just like in a state of depression all the time," said Kinley.
People who spoke with Newswatch 16 said they hope justice is served by the jury in the case. Many in the community believe Sandusky is guilty.
"Sandusky's wrong, he's a pedophile, he's guilty, he's sick. He doesn't think he's done anything wrong," said Malcolm Lee Kitchen of Avis.
"I hope he is found guilty, especially because I have a feeling that there is a lot of young men, or not so young anymore, who will not come forward, will never come forward, so I think this is the tip of what he has done," agreed Emily Montarsi of Mill Hall.
