A woman was sentenced Tuesday morning for embezzling more than $200,000 while she worked at the Rape and Victim Assistance Center of Schuylkill County from June, 2006 to June, 2008.
Mary Beth Semerod, 56, of Pottsville was sentenced to two years in prison. Semerod was the former Executive Director of the RAVC.
She must also pay a restitution of $205,883, which was the total amount of the money embezzled.
According to court documents, Semerod pleaded guilty to charges of theft from a program receiving federal funds.
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency discovered Semerod’s embezzlement when it attempted to conduct an audit of the RAVC.
