In the top of the first inning Milton started the 1st round of state softball play with a base-hit.

But it was the defensive awareness of Valley View catcher Anna McElroy that ended any Panther threat. Her pick-off throw behind the runner at first helped Cougar starting pitcher Gina Chieffallo get out of the inning.

In the bottom of the second McElroy doubled to right center but was unable to score. The game remained scoreless.

In the bottom of the third Valley View scored twice. The first run game off a throwing error from Milton. The second run came in on a fielder's choice play that Milton had trouble executing. We sat at 2-0 Valley View.

Certainly Milton had their chances throughout the game but Valley View made some tough catches in the outfield to hold on for the 2-0 win.

Blayse Cholish played a great right field along with Gina Coccetti out in right. The two made two very nice plays to keep Milton off the scoreboard.

Chieffallo ended the game with 11 strikeouts.
