Scranton vs Wyoming Valley West (Baseball)

The Wyoming Valley West Spartans top Scranton 4-1 in the District 2-4 Class AAAA final at King’s College’s Betzler Complex.

Following back-to-back playoff disappointments in 2010 and 2011, the Spartans with a 15-1 record are champions once again.

The turning point of Wednesday’s game came in the 5th inning. Down 1-0, Spartans senior Tommy Alexander drove in 2 runs, followed by Nick Hogan’s RBI single.  Hogan eventually scored on an error to give Wyoming Valley West a 4-1 lead.

That’s all the Spartans needed to claim their fourth district title in seven seasons.
