A man apparently cleaning a rifle was hurt Tuesday morning when the gun discharged, according to state police.
It happened about 9 a.m. at a home on State Home Road near Williamsport.
Police said the man, who has not been identified, was shot in the chest. He was taken to a hospital in Williamsport.
Troopers are trying to determine of the shooting was an accident or if the man intentionally tried to shot himself.
