The stormtracker 16 team is forecasting temperatures in the 80s this holiday weekend, perfect weather for the opening of a water park in Scranton.

Sno Cove opened for the season on Friday.

With the sun coming out and warm temperatures in the forecast many people are ready for the summer fun to begin, and some people got lucky.

Managers said there was such a high demand for Sno Cove Water Park in Scranton to open with the holiday weekend and 80 degree weather, they decided to open a day early.

Nancy Kaminski, director of sales and marketing, said they  have been working towards their opening day for months.

“We had a lot of calls from our local schools who were getting out and had no school so they were wanting to know if we were open so we thought we'll do our best just to get open for that and our season passers,” said Kaminski.

Maggie Flynn of Scranton was off from school and came out to have some fun in the water and catch some waves.

“I like the wild wave pool because I get to jump over them and I get hit with them so it's kind of like the ocean,” said Flynn.

Other people were having fun being tossed around in one of the park's big attractions, the Tundra Tornado.

A first timer at Sno Cove, Louella Zender, said being at the park made her feel young again and she loves it.

“I actually felt like a little kid, I was like go in a candy store. I wanted to go and hurry up but we had to wait,” said Zender of Carbondale.

While Sno Cove brings fun to family and friends around the area, it's also opened up about 500 to 600 part-time jobs.

Employee Alyssa Depietro said she loves interacting with children and having fun, so Sno Cove was a perfect fit.

“You come here and everyone's so friendly and welcoming and you just get to walk around, see everyone having fun, it's a good time,” said Depietro.
