Businesses in tourist destinations are gearing up for Memorial Day weekend, which is the time of year businesses that offer summer activities look forward to.

At Chamberlain Canoes in Delaware Water Gap, the crew is starting to gear up and get ready for the tourists.

"We're getting our vehicles all taken care of, maintenance done. Of course, answering phones and talking to a lot of nice people hoping for good weather on Memorial Day weekend," said owner Brad Sweeney. the weather last weekend drew many people to the water. With a holiday on the horizon, he is hoping this summer will be much better than last year. "Last season was very difficult. We had several river closures on Labor Day weekend. The weekend before, the weekend after. Levels were high, unsafe to be on the water. This year we're hoping everything stays nice. A nice moderation of rain as well as those beautiful sunny days to keep everybody out there happy."

A couple who traveled from Quebec, Canada to explore the Poconos for the week is hoping the weather holds up for their river adventure.

"It's the first time I'm here.  I've been to Milford, it's very nice. It has a bit of a French cache. It's real nice. We've stayed there for two nights and we want to do a bit of a nature, so canoe," said Marcel Bechard.

Once Memorial Day weekend arrives, Chamberlain Canoes will be open until 6 p.m. weekdays.

Right now they are only open until 5 p.m. weekdays.
