An elderly woman was killed Sunday morning when her car collided with another vehicle in Lycoming County.

Police said Geraldine Mayer, 87, was traveling in the wrong direction in the eastbound lane on Interstate 180 near the Basin Street interchange.  Her vehicle hit a Volvo S60 driven by L. Scott Shedden.

The Lycoming County Coroner pronounced Mayer dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Shedden and his passengers, wife Elaine Shedden and granddaughter Lydia, were transported to Williamsport Regional Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.  They were discharged Sunday afternoon.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of the interstate for almost two hours.
