A man in Lackawanna County was sentenced Monday to 21 to 42 years in prison after pleading no contest to charges of beating and sexually assaulting a woman.
According to court documents, Ryland Jones, 47, assaulted the woman in her home on Madison Avenue in Jermyn in September, 2011. Police reports said Jones beat the woman with a piece of plywood then attempted to rape her.
Along with the prison sentence, Jones was also classified as a sexually violent predator, the most serious classification under Megan’s Law.
He is locked up in Lackawanna County jail.
