A person died in Monroe County when a car crashed around 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Polk Township Road near Effort.
Troopers said the driver lost control and the car struck a pole.
Both passengers were thrown from the car. One of them, 21-year-old Jesse Chmielewski, died.
The other passenger was taken to the hospital.
The driver was not seriously hurt.
State police are investigating the deadly crash.
