A man who was arrested in March for illegally having guns is now accused of impersonating a police officer.

Randy Merriman of Albrightsville was arrested Thursday. Police said he approached a woman on the night of May 1 as she was walking along Old Stage Road near Albrightsville.

The woman told police Merriman was driving a Crown Victoria and said he was an off-duty police officer. She said Merriman even showed her two badges which looked like the kind police officers carry.

Merriman offered to drive the woman home.

Investigators said when they searched Merriman’s home they found badges and a red dash light for the car.
