A former star of the 1986 world champion New York Mets made a stop in Scranton for a special event.

Daryl Strawberry guest-hosted the annual Salvation Army dinner Thursday night at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel.

Emceeing the event was WNEP-TV's very own Sharla McBride.

Strawberry also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants, but he is perhaps best known for his time spent in the big apple winning championships with the Mets and Yankees.
