Republican incumbent Sen. Dave Argall defeated Brian Rich for the Republican nomination in Pennsylvania's 29th District.

Republican state senator Dave Argall wasted no time in switching gears from the primary election to the fight for the general election.

“What more can I say? On to November!”

The incumbent declared victory at his campaign party at the Tamaqua train station in the race for the 29th district that covers all of Schuylkill County and parts of Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.

“We’re very pleased with the results,” said Senator Argall. “We had an enormous number of volunteers helping us, working the polls, knocking on doors with me, making phone calls. I think we’re all glad this campaign is done.”

Argall managed to defeat Republican opponent Brian Rich, an Orwigsburg businessman.

At the campaign party in Orwigsburg, Rich said they may have lost but still made an important run.

"Despite the fact my opponent got more votes, I think we won because we really highlighted some issues that needed to be highlighted.”

This will be Argall’s first full term in the state senate. Argall, a long-time state representative moved to the senate by taking over the late Senator James Rhoades’ seat in 2009.

Argall has spent his career as a public servant, however he admitted this was a tough and sometimes nasty campaign. With the results of this primary close, Argall said he knew going in it would be a tight race

“Anytime you’re in a primary like this, it’s very competitive but we’re very, very pleased with the results.”

Argall says he is looking forward to winning the November elections and getting back to work.
