A woman faces charges for leading state police on a chase through Luzerne and Schuylkill counties.

State troopers said Kari Ann McCoy of Nuangola was in a car on the shoulder of Interstate 81 southbound near Sugar loaf around 8:30 p.m. Friday. When an officer pulled over to see if McCoy needed help, she took off.

The chase reached speeds of 100 miles per hour and went through two construction zones.

The pursuit ended when McCoy’s vehicle crashed on an off ramp of Route 924 near Gilberton.

Troopers believe McCoy ran because there is a felony arrest warrant for her in Hanover Township.

She now faces more charges in Luzerne County.
