It was a night of glitz and glamour for a good cause.

The 12th annual Black And Blue Ball at The Woodlands in Plains Township drew a crowd of more than 300 people.

There were live and silent auctions, raffles, food and dancing.

The proceeds from the ball go to the MDA of Scranton, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, to help children and adults affected by neuromuscular diseases.

"It's extremely important while the economy is bad, the need is still there for the services we provide, some of the services that our local office provides includes for our clients flu shots, clinic visits, an expense free summer camps for kids which is actually going on in June we are preparing for, that's where that money goes," said MDA Executive Director Heather Schield.

Don Jacobs won an award at the event for his work with the MDA.

The Black and Blue Ball is the MDA's biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year's event earned the association more than a hundred thousand dollars, according to organizers.
