It didn’t take Shamokin police long to arrest a man suspected of robbing a convenience store.
Investigators said Nicholas Birster threatened to hurt the clerk at the Uni-Mart on East Sunbury Street in Shamokin Wednesday night if she didn’t hand over some money.
Police said a customer chased down Birster to keep an eye on him until police arrived. Officers arrested Birster within three minutes and found the stolen money.
No one was hurt.
Birster faces a number of charges, including robbery, theft and simple assault.
