Dozens of full-time jobs will soon be added to a manufacturing plant in Luzerne County.
It is part of an expansion underway at the Certech plant in Hanover Township.
Eighty jobs are expected to be added at Certech. These are factory-type jobs that will start at around $10 an hour, according to the management.
The new jobs come thanks to a little assistance from Governor Tom Corbett.
He announced the creation of around 80 full-time jobs as a result of state economic development grant money.
Certech specializes in ceramic molds used to make aircraft parts. The company will consolidate an out-of-state facility with this one and maintain the 185 current jobs there while adding the new ones.
"There will be a lot of good factory work hopefully overtime, supervisory people, technical folks, and some engineers," said general manager Tyler Scheck.
The new jobs are good news for people like Adam Schulz who tells Newswatch 16 he has been searching for work for several years.
"It sounds good for the people in this area I supposed. How bad do they need it here? A lot of people are unemployed unfortunately," said Schulz.
"I think it`s great for the economy with the way it is, help the economy out a little bit," said Ed Carite.
"The ceramics that we manufacture are used to hollow the internal passage of these turbine blades for giant jet engines. It's very clean and right now the natural gas is very inexpensive due to the Marcellus shale in Pennsylvania," added Schick.
