The Tobyhanna Army Depot is cutting more than 100 workers beginning April 13.

In the statement, the depot said the cutbacks are necessary because of the decreasing workload.

“After a thorough analysis of our workload, we simply do not have sufficient work for all of these contract workers. A reduction is always a difficult decision, but it is the prudent on to maximize our efficient support of our war fighters and to remain responsible stewards of taxpayer driver,” said Colonel Charles C. Gibson, the depot commander.

The first phase will affect up to 30 industrial trade workers, such as motor vehicle mechanic helpers and sheet metal workers. In all about 130 workers will lose their jobs.
