The Monroe County district attorney's office filed criminal charges of fraud against a woman claiming she deceived the Housing Authority out of thousands of dollars.
The district attorney's office claims Loretta Foreman, 46, of Pocono Summit collected $22,624 in Section 8 benefits that she was ineligible to receive.
An investigation began in 2011 when the Monroe County Housing Authority learned Foreman had several people living in her home but failed to claim them. It resulted in preventing the Housing Authority from accurately calculating the amount of Section 8 benefits for Foreman's household.
According to the district attorney's office, Foreman faces charges of theft by deception and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing.
