Convicted killer Michael Parrish received not one but two death sentences Monday night at the Monroe County Courthouse, one for each of his victims.

Parrish was convicted of first degree murder on Friday for killing his girlfriend, Victoria Adams, and the couple's one and a half-year old son, Sidney.

After three and a half hours of deliberations Monday, a jury then sentenced Parrish to death.

"Always in a case like this, it's sobering, very sobering. The jury has spoken," said Wieslaw Niemoczynski, Parrish's defense attorney.

Parrish confessed to killing his girlfriend and son in their Effort apartment back in 2009.

Investigators said Parrish was angry and convinced Victoria was cheating on him. He shot her multiple times as she held their young son.

Adams' family reacted to Parrish's death sentence with hugs and tears.

"He's gonna be miserable for the rest of his life. He had a wish that he wanted to die. We had a wish that our daughter was here, we'll never get that wish," said Malcolm Adams, Victoria's father.

"That's what I wanted, the death penalty, but it still don't feel good. It still doesn't bring my daughter or grandson back, so." said Kim Adams, the mother of the victim.

Parrish's court date for a formal sentencing will be scheduled in the next 90 days. He does have the option to appeal. The last time a person on death row was executed in Pennsylvania was 1999.
