The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins AHL Hockey team sits in second place in the East Division behind leader Norfolk. The Penguins have eight games remaining in the regular season and are looking for their 40th win of the season this Friday night to go along with their 85 points.

A long week of practice for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will come to an end this Friday night in Hartford when they face Connecticut.

"There's always the games from here on in basically last eight games those teams are fighting for playoff positioning. We want to really set ourselves up for the playoffs. We want to play our best game, game 76, so this way game one of the playoffs we're a confident group," said Joey Mormina.

"I think our main focus is just to gear up little tweaks here and there to get our game right where we want it to be for playoffs. This time of the year everyone's getting excited to get our game where it needs to be. I think we're on the right track with that," said Geoff Walker.

With eight games left in the regular season the Penguins sit in second place in the division and it seems that their first round opponent in the playoffs coming up might be Hershey. The last time the Penguins beat the Bears was back in 2007-08 , and that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins team made it all the way to the Calder Cup finals.

"I love this group. It's been great we're just a really hard working group. We've got a lot of depth on this team. We've had guys out with call-ups or injuries all year and we find a way we just plug the hole and keep moving," said Scott Munroe.

With two defensemen Simon Despres and Brian Strait in Pittsburgh-Wilkes-Barre is a little short on the backend, but coach John Hynes disagrees.

"I think we have confidence in our depth and the guys that we're being healthy scratches when we had a full group. There character guys that have been around and really throughout the year guys have stepped up and proven that they can play and we have confidence in them," said John Hynes.

"I definitely like it if we can just put together the little things in our game. We've been lacking for a while. We're looking good," Scott added.
