It was the first of 15 practices for the Penn State football team on Monday before the annual Blue and White game on April 21, and the first look at head coach Bill O'Brien instructing  his quarterbacks (six total) through various offensive drills.

This is the time to teach new philosophies for O'Brien's staff, and a time for players to learn from a proven NFL coach.

"We got to get better at coaching. We got to get better at playing. We got to get better at understanding schemes. We have to look to improve every single day out on the field." said Bill O'Brien.

On the field Penn State returns 37 letter winners and 10 starters, and finding a starting quarterback is priority #1 for O'Brien. His choices include Robert Boldin, Paul Jones, and Matt McGloin.

"I really haven't watched a lot of Penn State's offense from the past couple years. That's something I really wanted to do was start with a clean slate with these guys, and just evaluate them thru the winter conditioning and now into spring practice." again said Bill.

On Sunday we learned from coach O'Brien that he would not discuss a few things going on between him and his team with members of the media, but we did learn that a few members of the coaching staff made a trip down to Alabama to take a look in at a few of Nick Saban's practices. Also coach O'Brien very happy with some of the early morning workouts which have included runs at 5:30 a.m. Also coach O'Brien wants his team to play fast and understand the importance of each down.

"We've talked about a couple of things. I want a big-fast-physical football team here. So I don't want us to be wrong on measurables. Now that doesn't mean we're going to have a bunch of giants-that means that there's exceptions to every rule, but we can't have to many of those. So we want a big-fast-physical football team down the road here." again said Bill.

The 2012 season opener for Penn State is September 1 against Ohio University.
