A little more was brought to light about all the various players in the scandal that rocked the Penn State campus.
On Thursday Jerry Sandusky’s attorneys filed a motion to have the charges dismissed. That’s no surprise. It’s what’s contained in the court papers that’s interesting.
Sandusky’s lead defense attorney Joe Amendola laid out his motion for dismissal of the charges by claiming, essentially, the prosecution’s case is so lacking in specifics that Sandusky’s team can’t even begin to prepare an adequate defense against it.
As an example, alleged victim number 10 allegedly assaulted by Sandusky in the outdoor pool in University Park, as well as in Sandusky’s car beginning when the boy was 10 years old.
Those accusations are too general and non-specific according to the defense.
The biggest bombshell in these new motions comes in regard to alleged victim number two. That’s the boy, still never identified, who was allegedly spotted by then graduate assistant Mike McQueary, being fondled by Sandusky in a locker room shower.
This also involves former Penn State officials Gary Schultz and Tim Curley who are charged with perjury for allegedly lying to the grand jury about Sandusky.
Amendola claims lawyers for Schultz and Curley have informed him their clients will plead the fifth if called to testify in the Sandusky trial.
The defense team claims they’re the only two witnesses who can testify about what McQueary told them regarding the incident in the shower.
Sandusky’s trial for now is set to begin May 12 in Centre County.
