Three people are locked up after stealing a ring from a jewelry store near Hazleton.

Police said Stephen Misto of Hazleton walked into Howard’s Jewelers in the Laurel Mall Thursday night and asked to see a diamond ring worth $11,000. Investigators said Misto switched the ring with a fake he brought into the store with him without the saleswoman realizing it.

Witnesses and surveillance video provided police with a description of Misto and information about the getaway car.

He and two other people, John Demshick and Arland Mumaw, were found at Dalice Precious Metals in Hazleton trying to sell the ring.

All three are charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property.
