A man from Plymouth is accused of violently shaking his two-year-old step-daughter.

Police said it's all because she woke him up and wanted her diaper changed.

Police arrested Kenneth Olshefski, 32, after they said he got mad after the two-year-old toddler woke him up at 1:30 a.m. Friday. He is accused of shaking his stepdaughter and throwing her down on the couch.

It happened at his home on West Main Street in Plymouth where he lived with his wife and her two year old.

Police were called to the home about 1:30 a.m. Olshefsky's wife told police her husband violently shook and threw the two-year-old girl onto the couch.

According to court papers, Olshefsky told police he shook the two-year-old girl because he was mad he was awakened to change her diaper. He also told police he and his wife were having arguments about caring for the children and that he also has anger management issues.

"Every parent gets mad and every parent gets angry and you need to know where your frustration level is at that time because it`s never acceptable," said Melanie Brill of Rally Round Day Care in Larksville. She added parents who get angry and frustrated should step away from their child and calm down.

"Put yourself and your child in the safest situation you can and just walk away from them. Get yourself calmed down and thinking straight and then after go and deal with it," Brill said.

Olshefski was locked up in the Luzerne County jail.

Investigators tell Newswatch 16 the mother still has custody of the child, but Luzerne County Children and Youth are looking into this incident.
