State police are investigating a Scranton police officer.
The Lackawanna County district attorney's office confirmed the information Tuesday but would say more about the case.
Newswatch 16 has received several tips about the office, all with the same name, but neither the district attorney nor state police would confirm who is being investigated.
The district attorney said when there is a complaint, is is common for an outside agency to investigate police officers, but officials in this case would not say if this investigation is regarding the officer's conduct or if it could lead to criminal charges.
Officials with the Scranton Police Department would not say if the officer is still on the department payroll.
The district attorney did say he expects to release more details about the investigation next week.
