Holy Cross basketball team
Wednesday night Holy Cross takes on Lakeland in a boy’s basketball seeding game. Tip off is at Carbondale high school at 7:30pm and Newswatch 16 sports will be there for highlights on Newswatch 16 at 10 on WNEP2 and then again on Newswatch 16 at 11pm.
At 6-6 Holy Cross junior center Josh Kosin can control a basketball game in many ways. On the break he closes with power. Around the lane his touch is top notch, and Josh is first to point out the improvement on defense.
“Oh yes! I’m feeling great. Over the summer we did a lot of weight training in the off-season, and you can tell that helps so much during the season. I feel a lot stronger. I’m not getting pushed around like I was when I was a sophomore or a freshman.” said Josh Kosin.
“Josh is just amazing-his toughness he gets beat up pretty good every game and he just keeps going at people. He’s a threat inside-outside. There hasn’t been a team that hasn’t doubled down sometimes triple downed on him, and he still manages to get it done.” said Al Callejas.
When you look at the AA bracket in District 2 certainly a lot of heavyweight teams are in there. There’s Meyers,GAR,and Riverside and then this Holy Cross team. If you look down the road in a few weeks that consolation game is going to determine a lot. The winner will go onto states, the loser their season is over.
“Where does Holy Cross fall in your mind? I got to keep us at the top of the totem pole. I think that’s where we need to stay to keep our confidence there, but with meyers, and gar, and then there’s always riverside that’s sticks around. It’s a tough bracket but I think we should come out on top.” said Connor Callejas.
The regular season rumbles with Riverside we’re fun to watch for fans. The benefit for Holy Cross was experience heading into the post season playoffs.
“Kincel lit us up one night pretty good, and we’ve been fortunate the last couple of times. The competitive level of players on both teams really brings the best out of everybody.” again said Al.
