Flames forced an elderly couple from their apartment in Luzerne County.
The fire broke out after 3 a.m. Friday at Newberry Estates in Dallas.
Crews said the couple made it out safely when flames started in one of the rooms.
Some neighboring apartments were also evacuated. They were allowed back in after crews were able to control the fire.
The couple who live in the fire-damaged apartment will need to find a new place to stay.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
