Police in Lackawanna County are investigating the death of a man who was found in a creek after a crash.

Investigators said the crash happened on Ackerly Road near Clarks Summit sometime after 10 p.m. Sunday.

A jogger came upon the wrecked vehicle Monday morning and found the body in a creek next to the vehicle.

Police identified the dead man as James Ryder, 44, of South Abington Township. They believe he stepped out of his vehicle and fell through the ice on the stream. Police said the water was about waist high and very cold.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine how Ryder died.
