Woman Charged After Blowing up House

In Monroe County, a woman is behind bars after police said she started a fire in her mother’s house while cooking meth.

Police said Rachel Wasniewski showed up to the home on Pine Avenue in Stroud Township back in January. A short time later, fire crews were sent to the home when an explosion went off in the basement.

Wasniewski fled the home but was picked up on February 3 in Maryland.

She is charged with arson, causing or risking a catastrophe and criminal mischief.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday in Monroe County.
