The Danville Ironmen boy's basketball team is looking for their 18th straight win on Wednesday February 8th 2012 at home with Mifflinburg. Right from the beginning of the season Danville suffered two straight losses to Pottsville and Allentown Central Catholic. Since that time they've been perfect and Wednesday is another Heartland Conference Division I match-up to keep an eye on.

It's another intense upbeat practice for the Danville Ironmen. After losing their first two games of the year the Heartland Conference leaders have been red hot. Scoring is coming from Ross Litz and David Vitunac. Kyle Gruss leads at the point, and the Andrew Andreychik is the team MVP.

"We have good kids from top to bottom. We have five senior leaders. The five kids we put out on the court are good athletes. Their playing at a good pace right now, and it seems like their playing with a purpose." said Lenny Smith-Danville head basketball coach.

"Describe your game a little bit? It seems like your a lefty underneath, and you have some size and some speed. Do you like to get out and run? I like to get out and run on the fast break offense and everything. It's really paid off. We played two really good teams in the beginning of the year which is why we do so well throughout the rest of the season." said Ross Litz.

If experience counts for something in basketball the Ironmen have that base covered. These five seniors have been in some battles over the years with Mifflinburg, Allentown Central Catholic and even 7-footer Peter Alexis from Holy Redeemer.

"Those games really give us a lot of experience especially going up against a guy like Peter Alexis a big 7-footer. Hopefully if we get out of this district tournament we'll be able to face teams like that again we'll be ready for them." said Kyle Gruss.

There's no doubt Danville is a dangerous team for any opponent, and their doing the right things to win their 2nd district title in 3 years.

"They played a lot of playoff games and a lot of games in their high-school career. Like I said their playing with some kind of destination in mind." again said Lenny.

The District 4 playoffs start in two weeks.
