LUZ TANKER CRASH pl2

A tanker truck crash has closed a road in Luzerne County and hazardous materials crews are on the scene.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. on Route 93 near Sugarloaf.

Authorities said the driver dropped a bottle on the floor of the truck and reached for it. The tanker went off the road and hit a tree.

The tanker, which was carrying propane, overturned and is leaking.

The driver was slightly injured and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville for treatment.

The hazmat crew is working to clean up the mess. They are spraying water on the tanker to help dissipate the propane.

Route 93 is closed between Main Street and County Road in Sugarloaf. Traffic is being detoured.

PennDOT expects the road to remain closed until about 2 p.m. Monday.
