A judge in Luzerne County judge Friday morning rescheduled accused double murderer Hugo Selenski’s trial for September.

It was supposed to be in April.

The defense attorneys asked newly-elected Judge Fred Pierantoni for a delay because they said they simply don’t have enough time to go over the thousands and thousands of documents related to this case.

Selenski was in court Friday morning.

The defense attorneys who were recently assigned the case asked for the delay. Prosecutors objected and told the judge they were ready to take this case to trial in April.

Selenski is accused of murdering Michael Kerkowski, a pharmacist in Wyoming County and his girlfriend, Tammy Fassett in 2002. Their bodies discovered a year later buried outside Selenski’s home in Kingston Township.

The judge delayed the trial until September 10.

Selenski is currently serving a long sentence in Monroe County for a home invasion. He was also acquitted of two other mruders in Luzerne County.

If he is found guilty of the Kerkowski and Fassett murders, Selenski could face the death penalty.
