A student at the Hazleton Area School District’s ninth grade center was injured Wednesday afternoon in a fight.

State police say it happened around 12:30 inside the ninth grade center building.

State police said two 14-year-old boys were fighting when one suffered a minor head injury.  Police said it is not known at this point of the investigation what caused the injury, but they added it was not a gun. School officials say the injury could have been caused by a set of keys.

The school complex, including the high school, career center and the ninth grade center, was placed on lockdown for about an hour after the fight.

The boy who was injured was taken to Hazleton General with a minor injury.

The second boy was taken into custody at his home in Hazleton.  He is expected to be charged in the juvenile system.

Students were able to leave the buildings by 2:30p.m.

State police say the two 14-year-old boys were the only ones involved in the fight this afternoon at the ninth grade center in Luzerne County.
