The Bloomsburg University Men's basketball team is off to one of the best starts in school history. Currently as of Tuesday January 17th, 2012 the Huskies are (12-3) overall and (8-2) in the PSAC conference. They host Mansfield on Wednesday as part of a women's and men's doubleheader starting at 5:30pm.
Bloomsburg University head basketball coach John Sanow guides his team thru another practice. The Huskies at (12-3) are off to the hottest start in Sanow's previous 5 seasons. Seniors like Trevon Johnson and Larry Webster are key contributors.
"Four year guys-they are guys that have a lot of experience. They've been in a lot of close basketball games over the last few years and it's good to see that this year they are able to make plays down the stretch to put us on top." said John Sanow.
"Right now our focus is not to be satisfied. Treat every game like we're a last place team in the league. So we just try to come out every game and give it our best." said Trevon Johnson.
"It feels good man, ever since I've been here we haven't been the most winningest team here. So to finally win some games and get on a roll and do good it feels good. This is my last year and we are trying to do big things." said Larry Webster.
4 players for the Huskies each average about 10 points per game. Johnson and Webster, Ed Hall and Lorenzo Christmas. Then there's former Williamsport Millionaire player Dontahe Jordan-the red shirt sophomore pours in 16 points per game for the Huskies, so with Jordan scoring that allows the other guys to focus on the little things.
"Actually what they do on the court allows me to do what I do on the court. It starts with all of us. Those guys averaging 10 points and me being higher it's just a team effort." said Dontahe Jordan.
"It opens up a lot for us when he's scoring like that it takes a lot of pressure off other guys actually it relaxes them and gives them a little bit more confidence to do what they do." again said Trevon.
The Huskies next test comes this Wednesday at home with Mansfield.
