Man Charged in Crash that Injured Officer

Police in Carbon County filed charges Friday against a man accused of hitting a police officer with his car.

Robert Monroe, 51, of Albrightsville is accused of being under the influence when he hit the officer in November.

It happened as Jim Thorpe police officer Joseph David was helping a disabled driver along Route 209 in Nesquehoning.

David was seriously hurt.

Monroe faces a number of charges, including aggravated assault.
