3 sticks butter softened (or 2 sticks margarine, one stick butter)
1 cup milk
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons lemon extract
2 teaspoons butter extract
(Any flavor extract can be used. For more flavor add the zest of a lemon or orange.)
Optional: couple dashes of cinnamon and nutmeg
Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Mix well. Add milk. Add flour, salt and baking powder. Add flavoring.
Bake at 325 degrees in greased and floured pan. In a bundt pan cake usually takes about 1 hour 15 minutes or so. In a loaf pan the cake is done in about one hour.
Serve plain or with fruit.
